Being that I work close with newborns I get all my preventative vaccines annually to keep your new bundle of joy safe and healthy!!

These include the Flu and Pertussis shot.

   Posing Baby

Newborn safety is KEY!!  I always make sure they are safe when achieving the trendy newborn poses. This may include mom or dad holding on to baby. The final product will show baby without the assistant and

                                              voila.......MAGIC!!!

Your Newborn Session

  • LET’S SCHEDULE YOU IN!
I recommend that you schedule your newborn session BEFORE your baby’s birth to ensure a spot on my calendar. Contact me at the end of  your second  trimester and I will schedule you. Keep in mind I can usually squeeze you in with a two week notice.
     BIRTHDAY!
I recommend scheduling your newborn session within the first 14 days of life. However, the BEST time is between 3-7 days after their arrival.
I will be moving them around and scrunching them into those sweet sleepy newborn images, so I want to make sure they are sleepy enough to allow me to handle them. Also, babies just tend to do a lot better with the session within the first 7 days of life.
Somewhere around the 8th day they discover how to stretch! Once that happens…it is harder to get them into those curly poses without a fight!
After the 14th day, it is almost impossible to get baby into that deep sleep that came so easily in their first few days…so it is unlikely that I will be able to get them into any of the more bendy newborn poses. Keep in mind that newborn acne happens some parents like to keep them unedited to (remember exactly how they were) others like every blemish edited out. Feel free to share what you have in mind for your sessionand what you expect. ALSO I LOVE TO KNOW WHEN YOUR LITTLE ONE ARRIVES SO I CAN SCHEDULE A TIME FOR YOU.
  •  WHERE?
The majority of my newborn sessions take place in my home studio but I can also pack up my studio and come to your home. If the weather is warm enough and you’re comfortable with the idea, I can take the session outdoors. Please don't be worried because your house is a mess? Don’t even stress out! You just had a BABY!  I don't need much space and can shoot around any problem areas. ( You will not see the mess in the pictures)
I will also probably be moving furniture around if I need to make room , but don’t worry – I will put it all back when we are done!
  • NATURAL LIGHT! Before I arrive I ask that you open all of the blinds and curtains in your home. This allows me to find the best source of natural light in your home, so I can set up my “mini studio” in the best possible location. I prefer to use natural light whenever possible. Sessions are normally done mid-morning to late-afternoon when window lighting is as its best .When I arrive, I will walk through your home looking for the best light area and that is where I will do most of the shoot. I will also bring additional lighting equipment to help out if needed.
    • TURN UP THE HEAT!
I recommend that you keep your home a bit warmer than normal during the session. (Like a toasty 80 degrees or so.)
Newborns are used to being all bundled up,warm and cozy…and then I  come in and take off all their clothes for those adorable naked baby pictures. Pushing up the thermostat is guaranteed to make the session flow more smoothly and help them sleep better. Turn up the heat 30 minutes before the session to ensure that it’s warm enough in time to undress them…and I will also bring  a  small heater to help keep baby in a steady warmth.
    •  LOOSEN UP!
Please loosen your baby’s diaper and clothing at least 30 minutes before the session. This allows time for  those little imprint marks time to disappear. (You baby will be naked in most of the shots, but we pose them so that all the “important bits” are not on display.)
    • SLEEPY?   Most of the pictures I will be taking work best if the baby is in a deep sleep. To encourage this, I recommend that you do whatever it takes to make sure baby is nice and exhausted. Keeping your little one awake on top of your own sleep deprivation might feel like torture, but it will be worth it in the end!
      •  HUNGRY?
Keeping your baby full is a happy baby! Please feed and burp baby right before our session to ensure a happy, sleepy (“milk drunk”) baby. I will also be more than happy to take as many breaks as needed to feed baby.
      •  VOLUME CONTROL!
Please do whatever you can to keep the noise level to a minimum during our session to help keep a calm environment.
      •  PATIENCE IS KEY!
Newborn sessions can last anywhere from 1-2 hours. It all depends on baby’s mood and willingness to sleep. Unfortunately…this isn’t something we can predict! Also baby may not want to sleep which is okay!  Wide-eyed newborn photos are beautiful too.

My newborn sessions are $160 ($100 sitting non refundable retainer fee, included in cost) which includes 1-2 hours and 20 fully edited images. I work around what the baby wants (they are the boss) so some sessions can go over 2 hours during this time I also like to include sibilings and the parents.
